There's hardly a doubt that Alvin Medina is the
most exciting cuatrista of the new generation of players residing in the United States
today. Besides, Alving Medina is unique from most players, young or old: he is not only an
assured performer of the cuatro, but at the same time he is an excellent interpreter
of the Puerto Rican traditional song. And truly, both skills are rarely found together in
cuatristas from either Puerto Rico or the United States. His dedication to his instrument,
as well as his spiritual devotion has kept him on a direct course towards success in his
field. Wherever Alvin plays, his zest, his
speed and facility never fails to bring his applauding audiences to their feet. Alvin has
been featured in public spectacles in diverse regions of the United States and on the
Island--cultural festivals, in colleges and universities and as a soloist in front of
symphony orchestras.
Currently Alvin pursues his artistic career and is dedicated
as well to his second profession as a teacher of music in the Florida state educational
system.
